Breed/color: Grey Cockatiel
Name:Misty
Age:1 1/2
Sex: F
Health: Vet appt. coming up on 2/28
Other Animals: Misty benefits from having other cockatiels around, and is tolerant of the dog being in the same room with the cage closed.
Habitat: Misty resides in her own enclosure and has a mirror that she enjoys looking into, a hut to hide inside of when she is wants her personal space, and a hanging string toy to play with and climb on. Current enclosure will go with her, plus some of her preferred treats.
Behaviors: Misty was saved by a Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch volunteer who came across her about to be released into the wild by her co-worker if no one would take her on. She was in a very small cage and appeared to be very timid. The volunteer stepped up and brought her into our rescue, landing her with her current caring and knowledgeable foster. Misty tends to still be on the shy side for human interaction, so she would benefit from someone who had cockatiel experience that is willing to work on socialization with her. She likes to be around her foster bird siblings, so she would do best in a home with other birds.
Cute Feature: Misty has the most beautiful, sweet eyes that will just emote what she is feeling in every moment, and those sweet eyes "pop" against her especially dark grey feathers.
Noise Level: When Misty first came into rescue, for the first few days, she was especially talkative when the foster left the room. Since settling in, Misty has started using her voice more for getting what she wants (food, treats, etc.). She would likely do best in a single family home.
Food: Nutriberries is the preferred food for her because it is a combination of pellets and seeds, giving her a balanced diet with all the nutrients she needs for optimal health. She also enjoys the occasional treat stick that are made of seed. An all seed diet is not ideal for any bird, so it would be best to utilize the food she is used to now.
