Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch, Inc. cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the pets.

Adoption Fees:

Our adoption fees go directly into a medical fund for treating sick or injured rescues. Some need expensive parvo hospitalization and costly Heartworm treatments, some need surgeries, long-term hospitalization, emergency medical care, long term medical care, hospice care and costly medications. Your adoption fee will help cover those costs.

SPAY/NEUTER

The NJ Low Cost Spay/Neuter Grant for just $20

Your new Puppy/Kitten will likely not yet be spayed or neutered. Spay/Neuter is mandatory, but they may be too young. Your refundable deposit of $50 per rescue will be returned to you upon proof of spay/neuter.

NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS (Only)

We are registered through the state to offer you the NJ Low Cost Spay and Neuter Program. It only costs $20 for surgery. Add-ons like pain meds, blood-work, and cones are extra. You’ll be responsible for covering those fees. For Spay, we hope you’ll add-on pain meds, as the Spay is considered major and painful surgery. There is approximately a 3-4 month waiting period for funding, so you'll need to get on the waiting list ASAP. Once you adopt, call a participating vet to get on that list!

*VERY IMPORTANT* (State ID Code: R353)
With our contract, as a NJ resident you are eligible for the low cost spay/neuter program. You must call a participating vet immediately to get on the spay/neuter waiting list schedule. Remember, there is a 3-4 month waiting list for the grant money for $20 surgery. They will ask for our State Code ID: R353.

PEOPLE FOR ANIMALS CLINIC (optional)

Don’t want to wait the 3-months, another neuter option is to utilize the low cost Spay Neuter Clinic in Hillside, NJ. It will cost more than $20 but will be less than your vet will charge. We highly recommend them and have had super positive experiences there. You will be responsible to reimburse us (minus the $20 it would have cost) for the low cost spay/neuter if you opt to use PFA instead of waiting for the NJ State Grant for just $20. Click on the link below for fees, they are dramatically less expensive than your vet would charge you.
