I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Shanti

We're happy to tell you that Shanti has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Cats Page to see the pups currently available.

Soft and silky Shanti came from a hoarding situation with 15 crated dogs and cats in West Orange NJ that got very serious when the owner died.  We, along with other rescues, got busy and saved them from being euthanized.

She's just as gorgeous as her pictures portray, but is a bit timid at first  - she came from a crated situation with very little interaction, so initially would run and hide like an ostrich.  Once she knows you, she is very sweet and affectionate.  She now lets foster pet and hold her just fine, but it took a day or two of hiding before she got the confidence to come out of hiding and get accustomed to foster's presence.  Now she plays a little bit with her stick string, and is getting over her fears - she's much more interested in being social, and grows more confident every day.  She was the first of 3 to run over and greet their foster when she comes into their room.

Due to her history, Shanti needs to go slowly - foster started her in one room and introduced her to the home slowly, as she was easily overwhelmed.  Once she got over her fear she is extremely friendly and snuggly.  She's friendly with other cats but should be tested with resident cat - she has not been exposed to dogs.  Shanti would be perfect for someone who works from home part of the time. She’s a total people cat.
