I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Rosie

I'm Available

Rosie is one of NINE from an 'accidental' litter of Australian Shepherd/Chihuahua Mix Puppies. The owner is in the hospital and, sadly, won't be coming home. Rosie had a rough start, but is on the mend in her foster placement! The rescue is dedicated to helping these puppies and their mama!

Rosie is progressing beautifully with housebreaking, and as long as her human is attentive to her needs, she does not have accidents in the house at this time. She is also figuring out walking on leash quite quickly and will typically stay nearby her foster. She is loving exploring her world but if she hears a loud noise, she quickly returns to the safe space near her foster. During family dinner time, Rosie is in her crate quietly with a chew treat. At night Rosie sleeps in her crate from 10:30-6. During the day she is confined to the kitchen but crate is left open. She is let outside between 12:30-1 for a potty break.

Rosie currently eats 1/3 cup Pro plan Puppy kibble, 1/2 tsp puréed pumpkin, and large tablespoon boiled chicken, warmed up.  She eats this 3x a day as she was very skinny. She gobbles her food like she’ll never get any more. She also gets treats when training “come”, and after she goes to the bathroom. Rosie is JUST learning how to play with toys and it appears she acquaints them with comfort more than playfulness. She’ll pick up a stuffed animal and take it in the crate, but that’s it. She’ll also periodically play with a cat toy on a stick when I wag it in front of her or pull it along the floor. She LOVES the snuffle mat and lick mat which both use food. When it comes to socialization, Rosie will try to hide when there are new people or new sounds in the house. When she went to the vet, her foster was holding her and she was shaking. When they put her on the floor to walk, she pancaked, so they held her and carried her to the back.

However, Rosie prances around and is bouncy all the time! She does these adorable little zoomies as well! On a lazy afternoon at home with her foster, she’ll cuddle in their arms and snuggle her head into their neck area. Such a lovebug!

She is not yet spayed, but is undergoing the vaccination process and is getting her health needs met.

Additional information from her foster: "She was VERY TRAUMATIZED when she arrived at Susan’s house. She has improved tremendously but whoever adopts her will have to have a lot of patience and go slow with whatever they’re trying to teach her. She is skittish so be careful that leash/harness is secure. When being picked up she will pancake to the floor. She had 2 barks….a high squeaky when there is food around and she’s excited. And a cute growl and a deeper bark when she is concerned about something, usually a sound she’s not sure of. She doesn’t know how to do stairs. Currently being treated for worms/parasites; a skin infection and ear infection. Bathroom at 6. She eats then right out to poop. Then one more per around 8:45 when I leave for work. My husband takes her out 12:30-1 and feeds her lunch. I come home at 5:15 and out to pee. Dinner at 6 then out to pee/poop. Out around 9 then last trip at 10:30. My BIGGEST CONCERN is that whoever fosters/adopts her has PATIENCE and doesn’t get frustrated with her as she learns to be a dog."
