I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Rocky

We're happy to tell you that Rocky has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Rocky, a lively and affectionate 35 lb terrier mix who looks more like a mini lab, was found as a stray and landed on death row. He was saved, fostered, then adopted to a mother of 2 small children about a year ago, but she is surrendering him back to us due to a change in work requirements (meaning he would be alone for long periods of time very often.) They love him dearly, but it's for the best for all.

Rocky is good-tempered and loves to cuddle on the couch after he's been playing or running around. He's a great TV buddy and is in heaven sitting by you on the couch. Sometimes he will lay across your belly to be as close physically as possible. He enjoys running, walking, and being outside, and is friends with all the dogs in the neighborhood - he's very social! He loves doggy day-care, and loves the dog park - he's very fast and athletic, loves to swim, and can practically keep up with a greyhound buddy! Rocky loves warm sunny spots in the house and can settle in for hours. Rocky is neutered and fully up to date with his shots including his rabies shot through 2026.

Rocky loves his toys, but is rough on them. Good News: He does NOT eat furniture or clothes! (Maybe the occasional shoelace). He has some resource and food guarding, and needs an experienced owner or a trainer to help break these habits. He also is getting leash training and will develop better manners on his walks. He knows stay, sit, and wait, (and sometimes come) so far, and IS very food motivated, smart and anxious to please, so trains easily. Luckily, ex-owner has 6 months remaining on a 12 month in-home training contract with Bark Busters, as well as approximately 25 prepaid full day sessions at Camp Bowwow she is willing to transfer to the new owner!! Off to a great start!

When visitors come he loves to greet them, then calms and hangs out after a few minutes. He was his fosters' #1 source of entertainment - he just loves to play, jump around and snuggle, and they really enjoyed having him. He has some territorial tendencies as Terriers sometimes do, and can nip at the children’s (and some adult) hands. His little nips have not caused any harm to kids, but for this reason we don't recommend children and are looking for an experienced pet family. He's a happy, healthy young guy, and would be a great addition to any active single or family household - a great hiking or jogging buddy. A fenced-in yard is recommended to get that energy out, and would be great if he had a dog sibling.
