Adorable 4 month old Oscar is an owner surrender who landed in a high-kill shelter in Alabama. How anyone could surrender THAT FACE is beyond us!! We brought him North for a better shot at a forever home, and he is just loving life now!!
In the morning, Oscar is very playful and active. Foster loves taking him for long walks, and he's pretty good on a leash, keeping in mind he's a puppy and is interested in everything! He does bark, but doesn't exhibit a prey drive when he sees squirrels or other dogs, he's just interested. He likes to eat and loves treats, tug of war, loves people and people absolutely LOVE him! I spoke with the foster while she was sitting on a bench in the park with Oscar, and we could hardly talk because so many people were coming up to her to pet Oscar and get some love! He's a charmer!!! And he eats it up with a spoon!! He's VERY smart and food motivated so training is going very well. Foster is working on housebreaking - he's getting there but sometimes has mistakes at night - he's ~75% there.
Oscar sleeps in the crate at night and does well - he barks at first, then he's fine. HE does NOT chew up the house at all though - he's not destructive. He's good in the car too - just looks out the window, taking it all in. In the evenings, he's happy as can be on foster's lap, and eventually just conks out. He always seems happy, and amuses himself when no one is around, trying to throw balls in the air himself when there is no one to play with - it's the cutest!!
Oscar will do beautifully with an active family with kids, who will incorporate him into their activities so he is not alone - he loves people and will be happy when he's with his people. As noted, he does bark, so condo living may not suit Oscar.
