Monty came to us to us malnurished, scared, and unsocialized. The original owner is in the hospital and, sadly, won't be coming home. Monty is now learning confidence and how to dog!
In just a few days, Monty has come so far. He is so smart (he was potty trained in one day)! He is super food motivated, so he trains easily. Monty is working on crate training, but would much prefer sleeping in bed with you. When left alone, he gets anxious in the crate, but is much more settled when confined to a room. He is not destructive and falls asleep easily! Monty is gaining confidence on the leash. He has great manners, but is learning to handle the sounds of cars passing by. Everyday he gets better.
For mealtime, Monty is eating Purina Pro Plan for Puppies along with unseasoned boiled chicken 3x a day! We are doing everything we can to help him bulk up because he came to us so skinny. At playtime, Monty enjoys his teething toys and ADORES anything with a squeaker inside! In social situations, Monty is very friendly, but is more cautious when meeting new people or animals. No aggression, he's just a little weary, but warms up quick.
A unique trait that Monty has is that he is a Velcro puppy! He loves to be right by your side, whether it's in bed, on the couch, on a walk, or under your seat at the dinner table! He also makes a great companion for another dog! He is observant and sweet. He's a follower, NOT an alpha. Monty would love a slow Sunday morning sleeping in under your sheets. He is extremely food driven, so during breakfast, expect him waiting for any dropped crumbs. He likes his walks, but if it were up to him, he'd prefer to be lazy next to you on the couch. He also likes to watch TV, especially if there's another dog on the screen!
Monty is not yet neutered, but is in the process of getting his vaccinations.
A note from his foster: "Monty is a perfect puppy! So smart, so eager to please, and the perfect size. I think he would thrive in a home with another dog that he can copy, but ideally just needs a person to imprint on! If it were up to him, he'd like someone retired or who works from home for maximum snuggles."
