I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Milo

We're happy to tell you that Milo has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Milo isn't for everyone. He's not your typical cute havanese mix, so please don't apply based some on his hypoallergenic breed/mix.

He has history. If only he could talk, we could help him understand that no one will ever hurt him again.  We don't know why he is afraid, just that he is. That at some point in his little life, someone was very bad to this poor soul. And that fear comes off initially as aggressive, barky, snappy, and snarly. Milo makes a lousy first impression. But get past the initial fear growls, and here's what you could find should you be his person:

Milo really should have been named Mr. Goofy, per his foster. He has a lot of personality and is fun and furry and a little goofball. Wish we had this on video, but foster says he sometimes literally dances in the yard when he is especially excited to go out!!

Having come from a very uncertain background like many shelter pups, Milo is a bit nervous, especially when first meeting someone. He lets you know by hiding or separating himself until he is comfortable. He doesn't like to be touched until he completely trusts you, and it may take a minute, so new people need to take it slow when initially meeting him and let him decide.

Milo's foster is also a behaviorist, and feels that will minimize as he gets settled in and gets into a routine. Routine is very important in helping Milo acclimate, so he will need someone who can set boundaries and patterns and stick to them. He's a smart boy, great with a routine and great with learning commands.

He is good on a leash and good at following, but doesn't like when the leash touches him - we think he needs to get used to it. He's excited when dogs or people come by, though, and will bark and may pull until you tell him no, and then he's fine.

Milo is beautifully crate-trained, with no accidents at all.  We wouldn't call him dog "friendly" - more like
dog disinterested - he is much more interested in people. He's had no exposure to cats.

Milo would be great with a lonely senior or empty-nesters who are comfortable/willing to train and understand his need for structure and can accommodate. Older kids who won't trigger his stress would be fine, too, boundaries and compassion a must for Milo. With someone who has patience and time to build structure, Milo will thrive. He has tons of love and is ready for his forever home now.

Our wonderful Foster to Adopt Option is a great way to experience adding a new family member without making a lifetime commitment first. No pressure, no second thoughts, just enjoy your time together and see if the chemistry is right and it's a fit for your family.

Minimum commitment of 2 weeks needed. Fosters always get first dibs to adopt within 2 weeks but are not required to. All supplies/loaner crates/support are provided. It’s a total win-win!!

All applications can be found on our website rosemariesrescueranch.com
