Say hello to Margarita! This sweet pup is an estimated 6-months-old, 20 lb. pound terrier mix who are rescue saved from Kosovo. This adorable girl is starting to be affectionate in foster, and although she is not yet a lap dog, she has the potential to be an affection seeker once she is fully comfortable with you.
Margarita certainly has some puppy energy 🐕 and will benefit from some puppy training. She needs time to acclimate to new situations as she can still be on the shy side at first. She is doing her best to learn what it is like to live in the house, she definitely needs to be kept busy with toys so she avoids going after your slippers! She still needs time to learn what is hers and what is not. The toys she enjoys most is elk antlers (she loves to chew) and stuffies 🧸! Thankfully, she doesn't destroy the stuffies, she just likes to fling them about and run around with them in her mouth.
Margarita is crate trained and sleeps through the night in the crate 😴. She hangs out in the kitchen during the day and she will hang out in the crate through the day. She is about 90% housebroken. She does well while walking on a leash as she doesn't pull a lot and is getting used to greeting other dogs while on walks. However, Margarita listens 👂 when she called back inside - so she knows when it's time to bring it in. Additionally, she does need training on using the stairs and would benefit from slow introductions to new situations and people.
At night, while the family is hanging around, Margarita enjoys hanging in the crate and watching TV from afar. As she still learns to navigate house-dog-life, it is helpful to have her in a safe space instead of giving her free reign. She is happiest when she is outside - leaps, runs, plays, rolls around! Total free spirit a🐶! The stress literally leaves her body the moment she goes outside and can get out that puppy energy. This is by far the cutest thing about her.
Margarita eats an all dry diet of puppy food and is currently having a 1/2 cup twice a day. She has a good appetite, and she is starting to put on weight! Yay!!
Margarita has some seriously soft, bunny-like fur🐰. She is not wiry at all like a typical terrier! Her big ears are super adorable too! Check them out in her pictures!
She can get a wee bit of separation anxiety, and so while she acclimates to her new home, it would be best if she had companionship in the home more often than not. She has lived with cats and dogs her whole life, and could benefit from having a dog companion.
Fully vaccinated, spayed, and ready to find her forever home!
