Lulu is a 7 year old, black/brown, short haired, 20 pound, spayed female cheweenie mix, whom we rescued from a rural Alabama animal control shelter. She has no known health problems, is heartworm negative and is up to date on all immunizations.
Lulu loves to cuddle with her human. She is the kind of "forever friend" who will follow you around all day and be perfectly content to sit on your lap while you read or watch TV, or she will sit quietly beside your chair. Although we do not know anything about her life before she was at the shelter, it appears likely that she was in a very loving home and was well cared for.
She gets along very well with other dogs. Not protective of food, water, toys, space, human attention or anything else.
Lulu is mostly housebroken with only an occasional "accident". If she is let outside every few hours, "accidents" become rare. Her foster caregiver allowed her to roam freely in his entire house, and she rarely had a problem.
Lulu definitely prefers to be inside. Although she enjoys playing in a fenced yard, she will soon be yapping at your door begging to come in, even when the weather is perfect. If she is left outside in bad weather, she becomes very scared.
Lulu has a calm demeanor. Although we have not tested her with children, we believe that it is likely she will enjoy the company of, and get along well with, a well behaved child. Adult supervision is always recommended whenever any dog interacts with small children.
Lulu is crate trained and goes into her crate willingly if she is encouraged to do so with a Milk Bone treat. She sleeps quietly in her crate all night.
Although she clearly prefers to be inside, Lulu also needs a fenced, safe outdoor play area. Not an escape artist. Walks well on a leash.
Lulu is very social. She bonded quickly with her human foster caregiver and his 3 dogs. Although Lulu gets along well with dogs, she actually prefers to spend lots of one-on-one time with a human. She will be happiest in a home where there is another dog, and/or a human who can spend large amounts of one-on-one time with her.
She is emotionally calm for her age. She does not have any bad habits like excessive barking or chewing.
Lulu is a warm, caring, loving soul who will repay all of the love that you give her and be a wonderful addition to any loving family.
