I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Forest

We're happy to tell you that Forest has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Forest comes to us as an Owner surrender - their other, more senior and more grumpy dog doesn't want to play and is anxious around him. They love Forest, but feel he will be the easier one to rehome. He's about 43 lbs now, and expect him to be 55-60 when fully grown.

Forest is a happy, healthy pup who is friendly and loving, unless you're a chicken (or another kind of bird). Then just watch the hound come out! He's friendly with kids but his play is a bit rough and tumble, so that should be considered with very small ones. Cats could be ok on a case by case - a more confident cat would be best.

He follows his owner around in the house, and loves to play - tug of war, fetch, you name it. His favorite plaything is ice! He plays with it and tries to scoop it out of his water :). As he gets older now, he spends more time chillin' and gazing out the windows. He is crate trained, and is perfect overnight from 10-6. He's almost completely housebroken, and whines by the door when he needs to go out. He knows many commands - Sit, Paw, Lay down, Go in your Crate - he's a real smarty pants! Leash training is ongoing - he is not great when they start out on a walk, but then he settles. (It's difficult for owner to gauge since her grumpy beagle fights with him while walking.) He gets along beautifully in day care with all other dogs - he's just a friendly guy!! Very well behaved in the car too. He runs out of energy after his dinner walk or play, and plops on his bed at night - evening is a mellow calm time in their house.

Forest has an appointment to be neutered 4/26, and owner has kindly offered to pay even if he is already adopted out. We think the best home for him would be an active family or couple who might love taking Forest on a long walk, with or without another dog buddy.
