I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Elsie

We're happy to tell you that Elsie has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Elsie is one of two mini-Bernadoodles we rescued from a Lancaster breeding farm, where the Amish kept them caged in horrible conditions and used them terribly. Both she and Sadie are available now, either together or separately. When she first arrived, she was matted and filthy. She had very little socialization and no attention. They both came to life when they got groomed and haven't stopped smiling since!

Elsie is decompressing at the fosters', but is the more timid and less self-assured in the house, as it is foreign. she's a bit anxious around new people, but when she feels comfortable and safe, she is a rambunctious and playful and a joy to watch playing! She LOVES to be on the bed and snuggle and be petted. She is more comfortable with females, and more hesitant around men, which is understandable. This will take time and is not uncommon, but she will learn there are good men people too. When she feels insecure, her back gets stiff and she backs into a corner, but has NEVER shown ANY signs of aggression or hostility. She loves to play, and recently discovered the tennis ball, and carries it around. She's not crazy for toys, but does chew on bones.

She's good on a leash and learns new things every day. Currently she knows Sit, and treats are a big help in training her. She is 90% housebroken already, which is terrific. Elie rejects the crate (understandably.) Foster keeps the crate in BR with the door open, but she does not like to go in and should NOT be forced based on her history. She will happily sleep on the bed or the floor nearby.

The perfect family for Elie will be someone who works from home, perhaps a single woman. She's do best right now in a quiet household with company. Another dog is nice but not needed. Come meet Elsie!!
