I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Davis

We're happy to tell you that Davis has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Davis was one of a litter of 5 little ones that came to us from a high kill shelter. Being Great Dane/Lab mixes, these little guys won’t be little for long!

Davis is currently 28 lbs. and a real sweetheart! He loves his people and is very affectionate, but no one told him he was part Great Dane, and he doesn’t realize he’s becoming a big dog…. For this reason we suggest older children for him (he’s really clueless of his size and flops on you like he’s a Chihuahua. It’s a riot!). Davis is submissive and shows no aggression, and loves most everyone. He loves all dogs, but they don’t all love him….He’s just a puppy and wants to play all the time - his fosters’ dogs are older and grumpy, and don’t have the patience. He does wonderfully with other dogs his age and energy level though. He’s unfazed by cats - when we tested with neighbor's cat, he literally just walked away!

Not surprisingly, Davis is not yet housebroken, but foster says he’s so smart it won't be long. For example, he knows he gets a treat after he pees on a walk, so he pees a little, stops, gets a treat, and then continues to pee so he’ll get a second treat!

Favorite things? Davis loves to lay in the sun, and loves to play with their gigantic box of squeaky toys. He loves being out in the yard, running and tumbling over his big ol’ feet ;). We recommend a home with a tall fenced in yard for him to play.

Davis will need some leash and behavior training to learn boundaries and expectations but he is very smart, food motivated, and anxious to please. He zigzags on the leash and wants to go go go! Foster recommends letting him run around the yard before they go for walks to get out some of the energy. He is sweet as can be, and loves meeting new people - he runs over with kisses and nibbles unconditionally. He’s a super friendly pup, loves to play and then crashes for a pup nap and some snuggles.

Davis appears to have gotten some scrapes on his face before arriving, and another recently from a grumpy dog. His fur is growing back in these spots, and the imperfections will fade more and more. Davis has a big personality and will do best in an active home with active people who have some understanding of Great Danes or large breed dogs. Come meet him – you’ll fall in love!
