I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Dale

I'm Available
This baby has had a tough time, and needs a mommy or daddy and all the love you can throw at him!

Dale was a stray who at one time had a home somewhere in KY.  When found, he was brought to a high-kill shelter, emaciated and dehydrated - you can still see his ribs in the pictures.  He was struggling to survive and we're so glad to be able to help find this boy a happily ever after.

Dale is sweet, humble and shy, sleeps a lot, and wants to be near you all the time and sit in your lap.  When they are on the couch, this snuggle bunny buries his face in his foster's side to be extra close - he loves to be touching his person.  He is the consummate Lap Dog, and he'll love you forever.  He's not a big one for toys - foster gave him some soft toys, but they don't hold his interest for long.  He's good in the car and tolerates the leash, but foster has a fenced in yard so not much leash practice.

Dale has a crate that is his safe place, and goes in fine with door open, or else he is in their playpen.  Dale is 50% housebroken - he never poops in the house but does pee, so the training in ongoing.  Foster has other dogs, and he ignores them pretty much.  He does not like to to be sniffed, and may growl when that happens but is never aggressive and has not bitten anyone.

Foster feels he may have been deprived of water, as he is a bit of a water hog, drinking as much as he can.  She will monitor the water in the evenings.  He's afraid when new people come over initially, and hides behind fosters legs like a little child (awww).  He is gaining his strength - walking more, gaining weight, legs don't shake as much - he's absolutely on the road to recovery.

Dale will need a household filled with love and time - time to be with him to help him feel safe and secure, and let him cuddle up with you.  Being a senior, he would be great with another senior, or any calm household where he won't be an afterthought.
