I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Cooper (fka Oreo)

We're happy to tell you that Cooper (fka Oreo) has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Cooper got away from his owners and sadly got hit by a car. When the vet explained the damage to the owners, and that he would need to lose his leg, they chose to euthanize him. Luckily, the vet contacted Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch because of our compassionate reputation, and we had his owners sign him over to us. The rest is a REALLY happy tale!!!

Cooper had his surgery, and the dreaded Cone of Shame for a month, and is now completely cleared for activity. It took a little longer than expected due to him opening up his stitches twice at a different foster, but he got there! This sweet, affectionate boy is now the HAPPIEST dog on the planet, and is running, jumping, and roughhousing with his foster bro's like it never happened! Honestly, he hasn't stopped smiling since he got a clean bill of health - they really are little miracles the way they bounce back!!

Cooper gets along with other dogs and has no aggression, but does LOVE his toys and may give a little growl warning as a heads up if a buddy is impinging. He's especially bonded with fosters' other rescue dog Gus and they often sleep tush to tush in the middle of the floor:). Gus would visit him when he was crated post-surgically and lay by his crate. Awww. He is a really smart boy, anxious to please and receptive to learning. He already knows Crate, Sit, Wait, Place (go to that place), and is working on Come, but he's in heaven now running around and really doesn't want to..... He is so smart he even puts himself to bed sometimes. At about 9 PM he'll go up to his bed in fosters' BR and tuck himself in for the night! Night night little one!

Full disclosure - he's not great on a leash right now. After all that time stuck in the house recovering, he's excited and happy and wants to sniff EVERYTHING, and who can blame him? When people come over, he's happy and excited, and runs up to smell them and get attention and cuddles. He seems to love anyone and everyone, and will jump on your lap for extra hugs and snuggles. He was extra gentle and playful with foster's sister who is special needs - he's really a special dog. We recommend older kids just because of his energy and playfulness - we wouldn't want anyone knocked over during play. Smaller children with boundaries may be ok.

Cooper will do well with an active family who has time to spend with him. Even though he just got his clean bill of health you really have to look hard to see he is on 3 legs racing around instead of 4. He has completely bounced back and is ready for his next chapter. This spunky little guy is a gem and will be an asset to any home!
