Charlie was rescued from Alabama where his owner realized she could not take care of him anymore due to personal reasons. Through no fault of his own, Charlie found himself homeless and would go into a high-kill shelter if we did not pull him in time. Charlie is a 5 lb male poodle, but don’t let his size fool you- he’s got lots of love, spunk, and so much to offer you!
Charlie is a happy little boy and LOVES to cuddle, as well as play. He is the best of both worlds. He will happily be your lap dog and watch countless hours of tv, or he will gladly walk beside you on a long walk or play in the yard! Charlie does very well on leash. Charlie is used to his crate and will not have an accident inside. He sleeps through the night in his crate and depends on you letting him outside to go potty once he is taken out of it. Charlie is mostly potty trained, but will have an accident if he is not let out for a long time (if you gotta go, you gotta go!!). He will go potty on weewee pads too! Charlie seems to warm up to women quickest and bonds hard with his female companions, so men youjust have to give him some time! Charlie does need to be on a special diet (he is currently on hill’s prescription diet wet food) due to some stomach sensitivity.
Charlie has been amazing with his current fosters, their dogs, their grandchildren, and all new people he has met. He might let out a few small barks when you first come in, but he quickly settles into you for love and attention. Charlie’s foster says his favorite place is next to her watching tv on the sofa, but that he does love to play with her and his toys as well.
Charlie is great in the car, excellent with the groomer, and has even made some guest appearances to Home Depot and to his foster dad’s hair salon where he was showered with love from everyone he met!
Charlie would do great in a home being an only dog as he thrives on the love and attention that he surely deserves, but he would be ok with another dog as well. Charlie hasn't been with his foster for long, but he already has made such a lasting impression!!! <3
