Apollo comes to us through an organization that rescues dogs from Kosovo. He came with his buddy Savannah (also avail to adopt, together or separately) to have a better shot at finding his safe forever home, and we're going to make sure that happens for him!
Apollo is a lively dog that could runs and play with other dogs all day. He loves his squeaky ball toys, and to run around foster's fenced-in yard. When it's time for a walk, Apollo plays a hide from the leash game that is now a fun little ritual for them both. Initially on walks, Apollo was timid, but is getting used to how things work. He leans towards a dominant, leader type personality, but has never shown signs of aggression with either food or toys. He DOES love his mealtime though, which makes training him very easy! (He's with an experienced foster, and she says he is the fastest learner she has ever seen!)
When someone new comes to the door, he will only bark if the other dogs are barking. Initially he will stand back and assess, as he is understandably cautious with strangers. Once he warms up, he's very friendly. He’s not Cray, Train, but doesn’t need to be because he’s not destructive at all. His housetraining is a work in progress, but as mentioned, he's a smarty pants so is coming along well. He does best on a schedule - out after eating.
Apollo's best future home is one with a back yard to run around and burn up some energy, so needs a fenced in yard. An active family will help him with that, but must commit to continue with his training. A family with another dog would be ideal.
