Apollo came to us through an organization that rescues dogs from Kosovo. He came to have a better shot at finding his safe, forever home, and we're going to make sure that happens for him!
Apollo is a lively dog, just under 2 yrs old, that could run and play with other dogs all day. He loves his squeaky ball toys, and to run around a fenced-in yard. He also loves a great game of fetch and tug-o-war with his person or another pup! Initially on walks, Apollo can be timid, but is getting used to how things work. He has a gentle and submissive nature, and does not show any dominance. With his current foster sibling, Aubrey, he submits willingly and adores playtime with her. Apollo is also happy curling up on his bed near the fireplace.
He LOVES his mealtime and treats (carrots are a favorite!) which makes training him very easy! (He's with an experienced foster, and she says he is the fastest learner she has ever seen!). He has learned to sit and wait to approach his food, even when he is bursting with excitement.
When someone new comes to the door, he will only bark if the other dogs are barking. Initially he will stand back and assess, as he is understandably cautious with strangers. Because he is always timid at first, patience is necessary. Once he warms up, he's very friendly and your bestie for life. He’s crate trained and often enjoys the safe feeling it can provide. He is house-trained but in new settings could have an accident until he learns his schedule.
Apollo's best future home is one with a back yard to run around and burn up some energy but not mandatory as long as he gets his exercise. An active person or family will help him with that, but must commit to continue with his training.
