Molly, yet another owner surrender, is safe and happy in our rescue!
Molly is acclimated to being in a home, and while she is housebroken, she does not need a crate to behave safely within the home. She enjoys long walks on leash, as JRT's typically have a good amount of energy that they need to expend on a daily basis. She does, however, turn and pull to indicate that she is done with the walk and would like to return home.
Molly eats 1/2 cup of dry food 2x daily. She likes to play with her ball and her stuffed animal, but mainly on her own terms - meaning when she is done, she is DONE! Molly will accept adult visitors after a short period of time. She's a little wary of new people in the home, and now after finding her voice, she will bark a bit - but after a treat or 2 she will accept the new visitor. She may not be very social with them, but there's no negative reactions. Repeat visitors gain her trust and she will come out of her shell.
Her previous owners made it clear that she needs to be an only dog, and should not be in a home with young kids (kids over 10 are okay). When her family began having children, Molly began having melt-downs. She did not adapt well to a new baby in the house. Her stress manifested itself by attacking her sibling dog, guarding her food, and not playing nice in the proverbial sandbox... Enter baby number two, same scenario only now she's growling at the older child. She was not happy and needed a new environment.
Some very lovable traits that Molly has, according to her foster: "Molly exhibits her boundaries. When she is done with a walk, she's done and wants to come home. When she is done interacting with people, she is done and will go into the bedroom - signaling she does not want to be disturbed. She's always looking for me to pay the cheese tax or chicken tax when cooking. She will wait in the hopes that something good falls. Since she has found her voice, she will let out the cutest little bark to alert when FedEx comes."
Molly is spayed and is UTD on vaccinations.
A final note from her foster: "Given enough time and patience Molly will adjust well to a new household. You need to take your ques from her and not force her to interact. Although she isn't crated, she does need a safe space where she can go throughout the day to relax. Given space and time Molly will come out of her shell to be the best dog she can be."
