I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Mick

We're happy to tell you that Mick has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Meet Mick! He arrived to RRR as an owner surrender who knew they could not give him the time and attention he deserves. He is a male 2 year old, 11 pound Morkie. He is housebroken and crate trained - but Mick is not yet comfortable walking on leash. He often doesn’t go far before flopping down on the ground. He’s very good about doing his business in the backyard, and he does love to sniff when outside, but he really isn’t motivated to walk more than a half-block or so. He just needs some time to warm up to it, and with time and training, he'll do beautifully.

Mick's diet is currently 1/2 a can of Ceasar wet (beef or chicken), along side a handful of Iams Protective Health Small Breed Kibble. When it comes to playtime, Mick plays gently with all types of toys, including plush, squeakers and rope toys. He also loves his Kong ball filled with a little soft food or treats. He is a playful guy, so this is a great area to tap into once he acclimates to a new home. With new people, he can be a bit shy, but once he feels the good vibes, he is very approachable and ready to socialize.

His foster shared that Mick is a lovely, gentle companion who is easy going, curious and engaging with everyone he meets. He notices everything, cocking his head and sometimes barking at the TV whenever shady characters or animals appear on screen. He’s a bit of a couch potato who’s happiest curled up next to his human companions. He loves to sniff around outside but is more into hanging out and taking in the scenery than taking long walks. During down time in his foster home, he’s right there with his humans and resident dog siblings, quietly observing from his vantage point on the couch. He will sometimes be coaxed into a play session by the resident dog and seems to really enjoy the canine companionship.

Mick is not yet neutered, but is UTD on vaccinations. The good news is that because we are a licensed, registered 501(c)3 rescue with the state of NJ, he is eligible to be neutered for just $20 with proof of adoption (adoption contract) through the NJ Low Cost Spay/Neuter Grant Program. It's super-easy, just present our contract at a participating vet and make the neuter appt!  Our local vet participates, and you may just find yours does too!

A word from his foster: "Whoever welcomes Mick into their family will be very lucky! He doesn’t seem to have been formally trained in the past, but is open to learning and is picking up the basics really quickly.  He is highly motivated by wanting to please his humans. While he’s comfortable living with another dog he probably would be happy as the only pet."
