Look at this lovely, lively girl named Nixie!
Nixie is fully house-broken and is accident free. She goes out about 3 times daily and is always in the house by 7 p.m. She is crate trained from her previous owners, and is currently crated during the day when the foster is at work. She knows a variety of commands (paw, sit, stay) - which is really helpful for training. On leash, she pulls hard, and will need some patience and training to slow that behavior. With her previous owner, she ran 2 miles a day, so she would be a great running partner for someone! She also swims and goes on hikes - welcome to your new adventure buddy!
Nixie will play fetch for hours with you! She utilized rubber toys the most, because stuffed toys will get shredded immediately! She loves her yellow retriever ring the most. She eats only dry food twice daily. She is highly treat motivated, which may be helpful with any further training you plan to do. No chewing behaviors also -- win! If she does anything that you would prefer her not to do, she responds to corrections without issue.
At night, Nixie is currently sleeps in her dog bed next to the foster's bed. She does not go on furniture and she doesn't jump at all, which is wonderful if that's what your preference is. She loves to be in her dog bed, so if you're hanging out in the living room, make sure she has a bed there to snuggle into so she can spend time with you. She does follow you around the house and see where you are going and what you are doing. The cutest thing about Nixie is her paw giving game! She makes the goofiest face and she throws her paw up in the air right at you.
Nixie was accepted into our rescue after being brought in by her owners to be euthanized for seizures that were caused by an accidental overdose of anti-anxiety medication. She has stabilized on anti-seizure medication, and will likely be able to come off of this medication with time under the guidance of a veterinarian.
Nixie is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
