Benny was abandoned in a Camden NJ apt - the family simply moved and left him there. Completely alone. He was underweight and completely matted by the time he made it to a shelter, and from there we scooped this goodest boy right up.
Benny is a confident and affectionate poodle (mix?), and as we know they are smart as a whip! He's completely housebroken and even lets foster know when has to go. He knows basic commands currently (after only a week!), but loves to learn new things and please his fosters. He loves to play with all toys - anything at all. He LOVES other dogs of all kinds, and he will do ANYTHING for his people - he's a BIG snuggler who really wants to be a lap dog! He adores being with people all the time, so when they are hanging out on the couch, so is he! He eats his food like the gentleman he is, and takes treats gently. Benny has had some practice on the leash and leash and is now excellent! He doesn't love the car but behaves nicely anyway - what a good boy!! He sleeps nicely in his doggy bed in foster's bedroom.
When someone new comes over, Benny will bark, but then greets you at the door with a wagging tail and a big smile!! He LOVES ice cubes (and blueberries and carrots) and trained himself to sit in front of the fridge if he wants ice, because HE figured out where they come from!!! He's a true smartie pants and has learned hand signals after one attempt at showing him. Not just smart, but he's also intuitive and empathetic - fosters' daughter was upset one day and he would NOT leave her. AFTER A WEEK! This is a dog you want!
Benny will do best in a house as opposed to an apartment, and would love to have a pet friend and a family with kids to play around. He’ll be a wonderful partner for hiking or jogging! Benny needs a fenced in yard.
